What I liked
Dufflyn Lammers held nothing back, and her tremendous acting ability was obvious. She was in reality at all times.
What I didn't like
What I read in the playbill didn’t mesh with what I saw in the play. I got the sense that the overall story would be about addiction. It wasn’t. I also didn’t get what “…the one thing she had to do to succeed was stop acting” meant in the synopsis. It didn’t resonate. In other words, I thought she had quit acting and that’s how she found success. I also felt like most of the play was about the mother, though I didn’t get this sense from the synopsis. (This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; it could be the central storyline if expanded upon.)
My overall impression
Ms. Lammers gives a tremendous performance; it was the writing that was scattered for me. The takeaway from the story as a whole did not resonate. The play deserves additional performances, but with revisions. One possibility is to include other anthropologic parts with sound effects, music and no dialogue, as if reliving parts of the story.
