What I liked
The writing and the in-depth portrayal of all the characters, including herself at different ages, were the highlights of the show.
What I didn't like
I didn’t think it was necessary to use someone from the audience to play one of the characters, but it’s a blip on the radar in an otherwise finely crafted and performed, deeply personal, solo piece.
My overall impression
Dufflyn is a great writer, an expert at crafting a story! I love how she incorporates her background in spoken word and poetry so seamlessly into a more traditional form of storytelling. And her portrayal of her larger than life Mama is handled so deftly…a spot-on performance! With the humor came so much subtle insight and heartbreaking poignancy.
