The writing was top-notch and the cast was incredible. Each lady had their moment to shine and fully brought their characters to life. Kudos to the entire cast for remaining on stage throughout the whole show while staying in character. It was delicious watching their reactions to the other wives’ while they were interrogating Henry.
What I didn't like
The theater didn’t have great sound proofing so you could hear almost every car honk from outside. This obviously isn’t the production’s fault though.
My overall impression
Can we put this on Broadway? Ladies in Waiting is an exceptional play with stellar writing and an outstanding cast. Henry VIII wakes up in purgatory and is put on trial by his six wives. What follows is a play that touches upon sexism, love, heartbreak, and the lust for power. It’s quite a timely piece as we currently have another “ginger king” whose legacy may be defined by the women he hurt and loved.
