My overall impression
This production of Pinter’s classic one-act play, “The Dumb Waiter” was a huge disappointment. The director apparently was unaware that this is a COMEDY, and what’s more, a BRITISHCOMEDY. As this show clearly demonstrates, any attempt to perform British comedy with an American accent is bound to failure. Anyone who grew up watching “Benny Hill” or “Monty Python and the Flying Circus” knows that. The comedy depends on the rhythm of the language.
