My overall impression

A very rich and complex story about finding yourself in the chaos of crazy family and cultural dynamics told with verve, passion, and enthusiastic physical energy by Karen. You really feel the energy (blood, sweat, and tears) coming from the stage as she takes on multiple characters and voices of her family on a journey as she seeks out her own voice. Covers the interpersonal but also has an interesting perspective on some of the changes both Argentina and U.S. under went as shared in the play. If you grew up loving futbol/soccer, felt the cultural/spiritual/fanatical presence of Maradona, or experienced an intense childhood—this story will definitely speak to you. There is enough theatricality to really make the show pop and challenged my notion of what I’ve come to expect in one-person shows. I enjoyed her kinetic storytelling and was in a room that responded the same way and would recommend the show to audiences of all types, stripes, and soccer persuasions.
