What I liked
David Wheatley’s talent is perplexing and mesmerizing. Equally compelling are his stories amidst the songs.
What I didn't like
Fifty-five minutes was not enough.
My overall impression
It’s incredible that a solitary man with a solitary instrument can so thoroughly entertain in a multitude of ways. Although I am co-producing this show, Sunday’s preview was the first time seeing it in front of an audience and I was blown away by David Wheatley’s impossible ability at the keyboard. His hilarious charisma in describing his musical journey, the history of a particular song choice, his witty take on how the world works and how adding a simple prop was a big step in the show’s development is just an example of his improvisational and charming personality all to keep the audience a part of the experience. The remaining shows may have some additional surprises and that’s actually the beauty of Wheatley’s show…he takes everyone in the theatre along for an adventurous ride not knowing what’s next except total amazement.
