The music in its jazzy composition, reminded me of an episode of Mr. Roger’s neighborhood. That is a great and warm memory for me and I appreciated that. Brenda Vardas writing and story telling was brilliant and really embodied a comfortability with the audience that allowed for a great time. Brendas piano playing was remarkable, and the Bass Man’s walking bass lines on the stand up bass nearly steal the show.
What I didn't like
The vocal work from Brenda could have been a bit stronger, it seemed more throaty and strained than trained with proper placement in the face and with a bareable tone. At times the songs were pitchy although hitting the high notes were dead on.
My overall impression
A decently prepared book with strained vocals but an overall brilliant look at fashion and women’s love of dresses.
