“Vincent Deconstructed” offers an earnest new contribution to the cross-cultural mythos of artists as outcasts, struggling between social conformity and personal truth. A sparsely staged production with stylistic influences of magical realism, “Vincent” dares to look at the possibilities of the Man behind the moniker, not just the Mad Man. Despite feeling like the play was somehow still a work-in-progress, I found myself drawn into its deeper explorations of Love and Loneliness as told through the heroic tragedy of one of Impressionism’s greatest innovators. For thought-provoking new work, I highly recommend it.
