My overall impression

I really enjoyed this show. Maizy: A Fable is a clever take on the old archetypal story of a small town, country girl heading off to Hollywood. Ben Lewis, playwright, does a very good job of folding in familiar characters while staying fresh, original and very funny. The play has a great pace and energy due to director Alexis Bloom who makes very good use of the space and engages the audience with fun, in your face action. Maizy, played by Julie Civiello, is simply fantastic. She has a sweetness – “girl next door” quality and a contagious smile coupled with great stage presence. When her character transforms from a naive fairy to a hardened Hollywood Starlet, Julie kicks into full gear and brings the show home with laughs and tears. Raina, Tinkerbell, does a great job of shattering any pre-conceived notions of our beloved childhood Fairy. Fee, Shankly, does a great job and brings a lot of heart to the stage. Jessica and Heather are hilarious!! They play multiple parts and, as I was sitting watching the show, I found myself wondering who they were going to be next. They had great comedic timing and brought a ton of laughs. The show was wonderful. Two thumbs up!
