What I liked

The actors did as good of a job as they could with the material they were given.

What I didn't like

This show has no plot and no character development for any of the characters written. There are no stakes. The lead has a nightmare about all of the guys she deals with in the show raping her and does nothing about it. The show is a prime example as to why a writer can not also both direct and star in their own show. The lead was terrible. she should have focused on just directing or have hired director for herself. The characters of Ethan and Jill serve no purpose in the show, which is sad because the actors playing them did a great job. Their characters just served no purpose for the lead.

The show would have been more interesting if Jill was the one running the hot line and maybe her friend (an innocent and shy girl who has low self esteem) decided to take part in this activity because she feels it’s the only way she will get guys to like her.

There were so many questions left out that could have really sculpted the lead. How did she get pregnant? Why did she feel phone sex was the only job was she was good at or could do? The fact that the lead is pregnant needs to be addressed not only in the script, but in the acting. The only time the lead woman seemed to struggle moving due to a baby being inside her was when she claims her water broke, but even then it was just brushed over.

It would also be interesting if the character of Ethan did have a problem with her doing the sex line. Maybe he doesn’t like that she’s pregnant with someone else’s baby and she contemplates getting rid of it?

The show has a lot of potential, but the writer needs develop an actual plot, give all of the characters stakes and stop trying to do everything. It’s okay to not stars in your own show or let someone else direct it. There are a lot of funny short scenes, but overall this just isn’t a show I would recommend and it’s a very lazy attempt at art. It’s insulting to think this woman is even giving others advice on their own shows when hers lacks the very basic material needed for writing anything. Maybe she should take screenwriting for dummies.

It’s also highly inappropriate to approach an actor’s friends after the show and tell them multiple times that you want them to tell said actor if they hated the show so they can tell her. Seems like even she knew the show was bad and was trying to force it out of people right after.

My overall impression

The writer just needs more experience writing. I don’t doubt she is a great actress, but this show doesn’t showcase her as that. Only those she hired for the gig, but again they were given horrible characters to portray. If she really sits with the script and carves it out more and gets expert advice, she could have a hit on her hands. The comedy will be there once the plot is figured out. The plot will also make it more relatable which is what audiences want. Right now it is just about a woman who does phone sex for God knows what reasons and then meets a guy who is just charming in the most robotic way (based on the text) and then she has a baby.
