I loved this strong female cast!
The hardened landscape and the bluntness of the war-torn country seeps into these characters’ emotions and motives. When I began to realize that this is not just a display of stories, but that it is a climactic, purposeful plan, my pulse beat a little bit faster.
As their individual stories unfold, I saw how these women are ultimately connected. At first their lives seem driven purely by fear, but then I saw that they are driven by their personal devotion to their roles in society. The jobs they have chosen, or that they have been forced to choose, are their lifeline.
I found it interesting that they are referred to as mothers and daughters as if they are all related in some distant familial way. It reminds us, we all bleed the same blood.
Emotional performances and extremely powerful imagery roped me in and then stuck with me.
What I didn't like
Some of the overlapping lines were hard to hear, but I loved the repetition
My overall impression
Such an evocative play. Made me continue to mull over our roles in society and the different driving forces behind our own agendas. Excellent performance!
