Mount Vernon approaches a topic that I haven’t seen in art before and in an unexpected way. The characters, idiosyncratic as they are, are developed naturally. The injection of humor honors the tradition of great tragic theater. The word I heard most often coming out of the theatre was “intense”. However, the intensity builds slowly (in a good way) and sort of sneaks up on you. The performances are outstanding. Both actors bring just the right level of believability and quirkiness. I highly recommend making Mount Vernon part of you Fringe experience.
What I didn't like
I’m having difficulty pinpointing a disliked feature.
My overall impression
Mount Vernon confronted me with a painful insight into family, tragedy, and the sometimes unlikelihood of redemption. It’s a great show I’d experience again. (I did actually see it twice.)
