This show far surpassed my fringe expectations. 65 minutes felt like 30. I laughed throughout and was very impressed by the talent of the cast.
A few performances stood out strongly for me.
Lance Frantzich brilliantly incorporated three characters into one in his role as The Witch. He shone – not just because of his sequin dress – but because of his confidence, vibrant and winning personality. I loved his interaction with the audience and the way he brought sexiness and fun to the traditional Shakespearean roles.
Helena Grace Donald’s portrayal of Lady Macdeth was outstanding. Her interpretation of this very complex Shakespearean character was so layered and nuanced. She lit up the stage every time she came on, ranging from manipulative seductress to murderous villain, to a woman that’s lost her grip on reality. Coupled with moments of unexpected humor, the performance left nothing to be desired.
I also particularly enjoyed Jason Pierre’s performance of Banquo. He brought humor and truth to every scene.
