What I liked

Thug Tunnel is highly entertaining. I was laughing from the first seconds of the show all the way to the end. The ensemble is packed with rock stars and backed by a terrifically talented band. The script is tight and focused with barely any fat or self-indulgence. I particularly enjoyed Chris Bramante (Panther) who, with his luxuriously long hair, struck a great balance between being grounded and indulging in meta-commentary. Also, Nikki Muller, playing the queen, has an arresting voice that glides easily between rock/pop & operatic.

What I didn't like

The singers were un-mic’d and it was a struggle to hear them during the songs. The band valiantly held back on the volume as much as they could but only a couple members of the cast had enough vocal power to break through.

My overall impression

If you love musicals and campy 80’s movies set in a dystopian future (Circuitry Man, Cherry 2000, Ice Pirates, Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone) you’ll love Thug Tunnel.
