My overall impression
Very rarely do you find a production that draws you in, keeps hold of you, shakes you about and then drops you exhausted both mentally and physically like The Audition. With its claustrophobic feeling and tension throughout, you aren’t just taken on a demented journey, you are strapped in the passenger seat and there is no escape. Both the performances from Ellie Colyer Alasquez and Julia Scott-Russell are breath-taking, and with Kate Muir’s pitch perfect direction, this is a production that just doesn’t demand your attention, it shouts for it and trust me, you will definitely reap the rewards. Oh, and never have I sat through a play and actually flinched the way I did with this. Truly outstanding. Miss it at your peril!
