What I liked
The acting, enthusiasm, script, singing, choreography. Everything! (Including the music, except it was too loud and obtrusive.)
What I didn't like
The music was too loud and drowned out the vocals. This is a perennial problem in smaller theatres — I think because everyone involved knows the words so well, it’s hard to realize how hard it can be for an audience, hearing everything for the first time, to make out the words, especially if more than one person is singing. The synths have a wide full frequency response, and are amplified —the vocals are not.
My overall impression
Brilliant, wonderful! As good as any ensemble comedy I’ve seen in 30 years of going to about a play a week in LA. Brings to mind the old Cast Theatre productions. I’m coming back with everyone I can get to join me.
