What I liked
This show was sharply directed, charming and funny. Dan Sugi is a smart writer/musical director who clearly understands and admires the noir genre. The performances are solid across the board, with Nathan Ondracek particularly leaving an impression with a fine mix of humor and vulnerability. Also, prepare yourself for Lauren Byrd’s vocal chops— powerful beyond compare.
Most of all, what I liked is the amount of WORK this creative team clearly put in to make this evening a fabulous, entertaining one. That work has paid off. The show soars.
What I didn't like
Broadway Noir could chop off about 15-20 minutes from the show and still adequately tell its story.
