What I liked

Life Expectancy is a great example of stellar writing, creative staging and directing, and top notch performances. I kind of expected a show about pregnancy to be lopsided, focusing on all the crazy stuff the woman was going through but Butterfield has a wonderful insight into the man’s side of the journey too. The show starts strong and just picks up speed. The whole audience “got it” and laughed throughout. Having said that, the director, Ron West, didn’t shy away from the very touching little moments that Butterfield sprinkled through her script.

What I didn't like

The prompts for writing a review asked “What I didn’t like..” Man that’s a tough one. I liked the show from top to bottom. Although, I have one note: There is a reveal right at the end when the baby is born (that’s not really a spoiler in a comedy about pregnancy). As soon as the reveal happens there is a voice over with an important piece of information. We, the audience, almost missed the narration because we were still howling at the reveal.

My overall impression

This is what the Fringe Festival is all about, a show where the writing, direction, and performances are terrific!
