What I liked
Some very strong performances and imaginative staging. The a cappela, harmonized sea shanties for transitions were especially enjoyable.
What I didn't like
Despite some strong directorial choices, this play left me bored by about halfway through as it didn’t do anything new with a played out genre or predictable story. I found myself wondering, why this play? The heroism of the characters is undercut by the unexplained and seemingly stupid rationale for their actions.
My overall impression
Strong theatricality doesn’t save this unoriginal story. Not unenjoyable, but too long and lacking a real heart.
