What I liked
The actors (a special shout-out to Actress Mariana Montes for carrying the show with the fullness of her heart) showed great commitment and passion for Celine Nyanga’s well written story. I was tickled by the appropriate ABSURDity, the wit and word play.
What I didn't like
As a Director myself, Blocking & Stage Pictures are my thing – and I would have made different directorial choices were it my material to play with. That said, for a first-time Director, Celine Nyanga did a great job, and I look forward to seeing more from this theatre passionate company.
My overall impression
With a critical feminist lens, UTERINE AFFAIRS intelligently poses important questions for our absurd times – the right to choose, the right for women to make choices about our own bodies, the assumptions of our heteronormative society…Worth seeing for the conversations to be had in the lobby.
