What I liked

As an enthused fan of Game of Thrones, I was thrilled to see the MB Stage crew taking a musical journey into one of my favorite fantastical realms. Setting their musical in Season 1, we return to gentler days of Westeros where the Stark clan was still united and would recurrently burst into song.

The MB Stage team gives vigorous, heartfelt performances as they take on the daunting task of abridging 694 pages of George RR Martin into 1-hour’s time.

Megan Watt brought a particularly royal energy to her performance as Daenerys Stormborn of the House Targaryen, the first of her name, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, the Unburnt, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, Queen of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea. Great job!

What I didn't like

I would be curious to see if the storyline would have been followable by people who aren’t familiar with the Game of Thrones novels and/or HBO series. There’s a lot of inside jokery with the source material, which while very pleasing to the fan-filled crowd that I saw the musical with, may leave new viewers stumped.

My overall impression

MB Stage brings some musical sunshine to frosty Winterfell in their new musical Game of Thrones parody, Winter is Coming!
