What I liked
Gabriela Ortega is a mesmerizing storyteller—she commands the stage with her charisma, intelligence and beauty. There are many actors in LA (of course,) but it is hard to find many who are as easy to watch, listen and relate to as Gabriela. She is gifted.
I loved listening to her stories about three generations of strong women (herself, her mother and her grandmother) and their passions and dreams, their secrets and sacrifices. I also loved learning a bit about the history and politics of Dominican Republic and the revolution there.
What I didn't like
The transitions were a bit unclear at times. I often didn’t know where we were or which character was present for a few moments, but it didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the piece.
My overall impression
A deeply personal solo show about three generations of strong, passionate women written and performed by the talented, charismatic, beautiful Gabriela Ortega. She performed with a fury and spirit that was riveting. I couldn’t take my eyes off her performance, nor my ears off her storytelling! Recommended.
