What I liked

I’m late to reviewing of this play so everything worth saying has been said above and I agree with most of the comments.

The things I liked best: The concept—very clever and so well executed. Something as universal and overdone as virginity could easily turn into a cliche, but Carla Neuss’s writing was really fresh and oh-so-funny. I loved the “lecture” element (though it was hard to see the slides but I got the gist).

I adored Katelyn Schiller’s performance. From the moment I walked into the theater and she said “Hello, beautiful, have a seat…” I was hooked… even though I didn’t realize she was the main character (thought she was a polite and pretty usher!).

Katelyn gave a hilarious, layered performance and was watchable from the git-go. Not only because she has a lovely stage presence, but because of her nuanced performance and sly asides to the audience. So natural, authentic and believable. I was tickled by her character’s innocence as well as her world-weariness when it came to the “ins-and-outs” of sexual intercourse.

Josh Bross played a dozen male parts and did a terrific job too. Just a change of costume and I truly believed he was a new character. Well done.

What I didn't like

Well, as a few people mentioned, I couldn’t see very well. I sat in the last row but the view was blocked by many heads and haircuts of all shapes and sizes. The slide show images were too small. Fortunately, the dialogue is so witty that I didn’t need to see as much as hear, and the audio was just fine. Heard every line clearly.

My overall impression

Go see and be prepared to laugh and have a great time. Brava to Carla Neuss for her stellar writing and to Katelyn Schiller for her hilarious yet natural and authentic portrayal of “The Virgin”. The audience was laughing throughout the entire show. It’s just the kind of show that makes you really happy. Maybe a movie is the next step???
Highly recommended!
