The show more closely resembles musical theatre than Shakespeare. In fact, there isn’t any semblance of the Taming of the Shrew story at all so I wonder if this version of the play, originally staged at a college more than 15 years ago, hasn’t been drastically rewritten. It has a collection of humorous characters involved in the typical theatrical drama of putting on a play: a self-centered star, down-to-earth leading lady, romantic underdog, crazed but comically-brilliant director, and assorted others who capture the rehearsal-like feel of the piece. Anthony Papastrat plays “Ron”, the zealous actor who is always over doing it and thus injuring himself in his over-brimming passion for acting.
Paula Deming creates the strong character “Betty” with a lot of specificity in her physical moments and and vocal affectations. She had a couple of hit lines that drew some good laughs from the audience.
Jeff Decrosta plays the new ASM, Eddie, who has a nice singing voice.
Chinese Enekwechi played the strong headed, leading lady Annie. Her pretty smile and feisty attitude added a nice flavor to the show.
Steve Peterson played the wise Hilary. I wish he had more stage time. All of his scenes and dialogue were a joy to watch because of the truth he brought to the character.

We were very entertained by Taming of the Show. The performances were strong and everyone's timing was spot on. The musical component was genius and incredibly funny. I highly recommend checking it out. Doubly if you have ever worked in theatre--as crew OR cast....
