What I liked

When it comes to Fringe festival concepts that immediately pass the smell test it probably doesn’t get much better than “Titus Andronicus performed by children.” Basically, they had me at “hello.” The talent and aptitude of the kids was impressive, along with the moments where you are reminded that these actors are still kids. The concept and level of no-holds-barred commitment were admirable.

What I didn't like

I wanted so much to see what these kids could do that I felt like the adult actor was a diversion from that promise. I couldn’t really tell how the relationship meltdown of the adult actor who plays the director of the show was parallel or relevant to the story of Titus or the conceit of the concept. Also, we’re made to believe that these children’s parents are in the audience watching this train derail itself in real time and yet no matter how for off the rails it goes the show isn’t stopped? That kept me from suspending my disbelief and sitting back to enjoy the ride. I could have done with a much more minimal/bookended role by the adult character.

My overall impression

Good, dirty fun. The concept might be higher than the execution.
