What I liked

Really well-acted and I thought the concept was fascinating. Every other story focuses on Anne Frank’s experiences while her family is in hiding, but to get a glimpse of life before that and the days leading up to it was compelling. The incorporated movement adds an energy to the whole piece and elevates it. The development of Anne’s character and her budding relationship with Halo is sweetly tragic.

What I didn't like

I felt I was missing a moment of discovery for Anne. Her parents never actually tell her why they’re leaving, never explain what’s going on in the world. The crux of the whole story for me is the loss of innocence when the harshness of the real world crashes in on her childhood and bursts that bubble. I wanted to experience that moment with her.

My overall impression

Really well done. The minimalist staging suited the story and everything came together well. Acting, direction, design, writing all top notch.
