It had been too long since I'd seen a laugh out loud funny play like Babygirl. The humor and pathos I discovered in this one woman play written and performed by Kaypri, directed by Ayana Cahrr, and performed at the Lounge Theatre was a super treat, The coming of age story of a multi-racial girl growing into womanhood framed by the television shows I grew up watching hit home with me. The bip, bop and pow of Batman fighting evil villains, Arnold saying to "whatcho talkin' 'bout, WIllis," and the many other catch phrases and moments took me back to my youth in a fun, previously unimagined way. Kaypri's acting chops never let me off the hook; my mouth was stuck in a frozen smile almost the entire period of her performance. I look forward to see... full review

Kaypri gave a funny, moving, emotional performance, telling her family story with playfulness and heart-tugging reality. The show is very real, raw in parts, and totally honest.... full review
