My overall impression
Two sides of a relationship gone bad.
A play about expectation of a better life, the failure of the American dream and a study in the struggles of the working man and woman.
In the first act Amanda Weier shines as the female side of the equation.
She irons and folds and reveals her dreams and desires, her foibles and flaws. We believe her, we want things to work out for her.
The second act reveals the male part of the equation performed by Colin Walker. A man who we get the feeling peaked in high school. He is crude and self involved but because of Walker’s fine performance, you can’t hate him. You feel a bit sorry for him, you wonder what his wife saw in him in the first place and as the second act winds on, you start to to see him in glimpses, in the moments he lets his guard down and you can see the pain, the loss, the feelings of failure and the love he still feels for his ex-wife.
Filled with great cameo’s from Caitlin Renee Campbell, Rona Rix, Tommy Burress and possibly the creepiest comedic cameo EVER, Conor Lane as a boy scout whose uniform is just WAYTOOTIGHT.
