My overall impression
David Svengalis brings his signature naturalistic approach to this original work that he’s also penned. The audience is introduced to two casts of characters: the band nervously loading in for their first gig at an established venue and the weary staff that runs the joint. The one-liners fly and are best served when the cast keeps the pace tight… which is certainly helped by having a full house in the fantastic Three Clubs performance space. Standouts include Gabby the overworked waitress, vividly and engaging played by Amanda Maddox in the June 12th show and a matter-of-fact bartender going through the motions smartly portrayed by Jack Zullo. It’s a breezy bit of entertainment well worth the price of admission.
