My overall impression

Full disclosure – I have known Michael-Anthony Nozzi for over 20 years, so if you think I can’t be objective, take this review with a grain of salt. But the simple truth is that my long affiliation here just makes the review better, and here’s why.

Mike Nozzi disappears into this role. For over an hour I watched Truman Capote on that stage where the promotional materials told me I’d find an old friend. From the moment when you first hear his voice, to when you then see the physical work, to the point you feel the crushing emotional weight this man carries around with him, the only person on that stage is Tru. And although I did not know him when I sat down, I came to know him while I was there. And while this is a heavy piece, make no mistake there are moments of delightful comedy. Give yourself permission to laugh with Mr. Capote, and sometimes at him as well. It’s what he would want.
