Bob Dylan’s legendary two-week tour of England in May 1965 marked the end of an era. These final all-acoustic solo performances, at the Manchester Free Trade Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London, would be the last that Dylan would ever play, leaving millions of fans deprived of the opportunity to witness the “voice of the 60’s” at what many believe to be the height of his powers.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of these concerts, and in preparation for his portrayal of Dylan in the upcoming staged re-creation of the groundbreaking D.A. Pennebaker documentary, “Don’t Look Back,” singer/songwriter and actor, Chip Godwin performs Dylan’s May 7, 1965 concert at the Manchester Free Trade Hall, in its entirety. This multi-media performance is not a tribute, but rather a re-creation of the original concert, performed in Manchester, England, that would prove to be the second to last all-acoustic concert Dylan would ever play.
