Sleeping Around is a well-paced, entertaining and touching hour of theatre directed with a deft hand by Wendy Gough Soroka. The interlocking vignettes of Cesar Abella’s engaging play explore the absurdity, joy and despair of emotional nudity.
The ensemble does fine work but there are standouts. Eric Cire takes the juicy role of Elliot and wrings every drop from it with a mesmerizing performance. Jim Martyka, a seasoned actor confident in his craft, skillfully finds the humor and the wounded heart of Donnie. Sammi Lappin is so honestly vulnerable and charming, utterly without artifice, that you just want to give her Angela a hug and tell her it will be OK.
