My overall impression

#SeeItLA – While Sincerely, may start out a little disjointed at first, it is worth the ride and clarity comes by the end. Leslie Murphy is adorably vulnerable, and manages to spend an hour talking about depression, and when life really sucks – she calls it the sads – without ever bringing her audience into the sads with her. It is surprisingly uplifting and hopeful, despite the fact that she doesn’t offer some grand fix-it, or a happy ending tied up with a string. Things are still complicated and there is a nest of potential traps – which is also an interesting visual that she creates throughout the piece using actual string – which is very much the reality for those who suffer from the sads. This is very well done, and shouldn’t be missed.
