About the Project

Review the past. What do we see, think, say? Do we dwell on sorrow, joy, transition, or weigh the gains and losses of change? What is past may seem settled, even safe, while the present and future threaten, challenge, or promise. Nonetheless, we return, again and again, to the old harbor of past feelings and ideas, each time rewriting old stories—especially this time!

This show depends upon you as a valued actor in our unique version of Krapp’s Last Tape, a life’s-a-one-act by twentieth-century Irish playwright and absurdist Samuel Beckett. Often viewed as loosely based on Beckett’s life, Krapp’s fragmented rehearsal of his early life narratives deconstructs and recaps his story in a chiaroscuro of nostalgia, narcissism, and denial – the contemporary amnesia of selective programming.

As Beckett’s Krapp reflects on the relentless intersections of time,
space, the world, and the self, so will we!
