Wow! What a great story, told with courage and humor. I laughed, I cried, I groaned and held my breath - I wanted it to go on at least an hour longer because it was so hilarious & compelling. The red flag motif was brilliant, as were the TV show references and the pieces of period video. Thinking about the fact that it was ALL TRUE just makes me gasp. Donna Thomas captures her journey from naive college girl to fully realized woman. A real life tale illustrating the wisdom gleaned when illusion falls away. I enjoyed this funny, honest telling of seeing through illusion and pretense and creating an intentional life.... full review

Such a great show! Even without the pictures and video, Donna created such vivid imagery. Being married to a member of a drug cartel is a horrifying, frightening, bewildering thing but Donna somehow manages to bring a lot of levity and breeziness to what otherwise could be a really sad story. Usually you hope for one of these in a short piece, but "Southern Belle to Mrs Cartel" manages to do all three in this true life story that you wouldn't believe if you didn't see the wedding videos at the end.
