One of the great things about the Fringe is that it enables all kinds of projects to have a springboard. Unicornfartz is clearly a young company, with young performers and creative team. The play is in the ilk of absurd cartoon (SOUTH PARK-ish in the sense of dubious politics, non-realistic reactions, deliberately ill-fitting wigs, etc.). What you can explore in a cartoon is often much harder with real living bodies in a space with a live audience. So the run at the HFF15 will no doubt be a useful time for the company to fully explore the show's parameters - which is one of the great opportunities provided by the Fringe as it accommodates nascent projects as well as tried and tested works. ... full review

The Goodluck Girls was a wonderful surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect of the show, with its heavy topic and comedy nature, but it turned out to be a gem. I found myself laughing out loud in multiple scenes and wondering how they would tie it all up in the end. The piece creates a unique view of political and social issues through eyes of the third world and the eyes of the first while bringing a bit of humor into the mix. The best part is that though it uses loud humor, the message and moral come across clearly and the play makes a statement. Its different and brilliant and not something you're going to see anywhere else. Go see this show, it will open your eyes and make you laugh. ... full review
