One of the great things about the Fringe is that it enables all kinds of projects to have a springboard. Unicornfartz is clearly a young company, with young performers and creative team. The play is in the ilk of absurd cartoon (SOUTHPARK-ish in the sense of dubious politics, non-realistic reactions, deliberately ill-fitting wigs, etc.). What you can explore in a cartoon is often much harder with real living bodies in a space with a live audience. So the run at the HFF15 will no doubt be a useful time for the company to fully explore the show’s parameters – which is one of the great opportunities provided by the Fringe as it accommodates nascent projects as well as tried and tested works.
