My overall impression
Disappointing! Shrew is all about gender, and what could have been a novel gender exploration instead muddies rather than illuminates the characters. Overwrought and over-the-top, it goes for circus shock that fails while ultimately trivializing gender expression. NOT the equal to last year’s brilliant Queer Earnest. No insight found here. Also beware the back-breaking folding chairs in an ice-box cold room.
