Unexpectedly, by theater invite after my friend Miss Barbie-Q's show, I attend this performance on Friday, June 26. So I made a decision to attend another show where I was again surprised by joy. It would be 90 minutes wonderfully engaging performance of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew . I love the theater and especially loved adaptations of Shakespeare plays with new twists . This one was an amazing, gender-bending frolic . Each actor delivered a deliciously enthusiastic performance with aplomb where transgender performers played male or female roles. I especially enjoyed the role of an older man pursuing the more beautiful daughter, in her plaid pants and ass sticking out, whooping it up in the stars of the show Kate and her suitor ... full review

Disappointing! Shrew is all about gender, and what could have been a novel gender exploration instead muddies rather than illuminates the characters. Overwrought and over-the-top, it goes for circus shock that fails while ultimately trivializing gender expression. NOT the equal to last year's brilliant Queer Earnest. No insight found here. Also beware the back-breaking folding chairs in an ice-box cold room.... full review
