My overall impression

This new work written by recent graduate from Chapman University, Christian Guerrero, was impressive. Guerrero starred in the production with a young and talented cast. The play dealt with complex life passage issues in a ‘old’ Hollywood context. Touching on the fiction of ‘fame’, interpersonal relationships, and under currents of homosexuality in an era where those realities were hidden and suppressed made for a complex story told in a engaging and sensitive manner. Tosh Turner, playing Stanley, captivated the audience with his presence and intensity, playing a rakish heart throb who garnered interest from both sexes. Lucy, the ‘green’ reporter, played by Abi Sims, cleverly narrated the story, drawing the audience in from the opening line. In fact, the whole ensemble pulled their weight and more. I hope this production continues to develop. I see strong potential for a dynamic two act play.
