My overall impression

I loved the the title song “My Darling Josephine”. It was catchy and, being from Oklahoma, I love a good old western song. After the title song, they performed another saloon song, so at first, I thought the show was going to be a classic saloon show; which I was totally stoked for! However the show was a full straight play bookended by song, so I wouldn’t characterize it as a musical per se, more of a play with music. Moreover, I wish that my first impressions of the show would have been true. If this play were to go forward I would rework it to interweave the vocal stylings of Sayed Sabrina and her band more into the show as part of the cast instead of a separate entity. Her voice and persona were quite enjoyable and wished I saw more of her and the band. Making the show into a standard saloon variety show with the scenes sprinkled in, like a “Noises Off” feel., will do wonders for the flow of the show. The actors were well prepared, but J, who plays Barrett, steals the show and stands out as a comic force. He had me laughing throughout from just his looks and facial expressions alone. Any time he was on stage I felt at ease knowing I would be entertained.
