My overall impression
Fringe Hollywood was unknown to me ( an LA native, no less!) until just recently, and I wish to thank Danielle Sadd for making my first entrée a delightful experience. Her creation, “Stumbling Along,” presents an insightful look into Every Man’s journey ( really every woman’s, but it can be applicable to all young folk) after high school and college— I enjoyed her clever mix of contemporary and self-penned music, her satiric wit, as well as her characterizations of the various people she met along the way to the L.A. stage. Moreover, I found her reflections upon her journey well worth the listen. Indeed, the metaphors she chose to share amidst the jovial tongue-in-cheek lyrics were not simply cotton-candy fluff assembled merely for our entertainment; instead, I found in her (what could easily be seen as allegorical) life story a woman’s wisdom worthy of an intellect many years her senior. Lastly, I took especial pleasure in the fact that she employed friends that she had gathered over the years to help her present her art ( this only made the show more poignant, since the singers and musicians were extremely talented as well as long time friends), as well as engaging the services of her charming mother in the role of the Box Office. It was an afternoon well spent.
