My overall impression
I was delighted to have caught a performance of Cookie & The Monster. A very worthy play with dedicated actors (As always with Sacred Fools peeps). I’ll go see anything and everything that is in the dark comedy genre and this cuts right to the veins with the rest of em’. Very slick directing. There are a lot of scene, time and location changes but the cast keeps the pace up the entire time. Great costumes and some beautiful choreographed moments create lovely picturesque moments that show off that the director has an eye for composition. The play feels so personal and honest and is clever way to address the dark monsters that we feel bubble up and overtake our lives. If you love to laugh at the most brutally uncomfortable moments in life, this will be right up your alley. P.S. I think this would be a fantastic movie directed by some like Guillermo Del Toro or Sofia Coppola. Jamie! Please write the screenplay. There is a lot of room for greatness!
