My overall impression
Ruth Otero is a master of stage. Her performance is heartfelt and hilarious. Staged mostly in the waiting area of an airport Ruth celebrates her “big birthday” with bag packed and no intention to travel. “talk about baggage.” The actress and writer Ruth Otero masterfully weaves between her head and her heart as she realizes her fears and struggles between her responsible self and her adventurous true heart which she knows magically unleashes outside of the U.S.
The best scene is definitely in the moment that the characters instincts take charge during a robbery scene. The self love realized is refreshing to the entire piece and feels good. Because we finally know that the character realizes what we, in the audience have known from minute one in the play, she is so capable. Made me want to cry and stand up and cheer all at once.
