My overall impression
It’s beautiful when you can find truth in even the most absurd situation. With shrewd storytelling and larger-than-life characters, “Happy Birthday, Mom” is not only a hilarious comedy about an incredibly awkward situation, but a very human portrayal of dysfunctional family dynamics. It’s also a disturbing reminder to the twenty- and thirty-somethings of the world that their parents are people too… and they (still) have needs… ::shudder::
Two thumbs up to a top-notch cast than nails the complex relationships between the characters.
Please support this show on it’s journey to the New York Fringe Festival! It is most certainly worth both your time and money.
