My overall impression

“Smile Baby” is a play dealing with real issues in a poignant, funny way. And while you leave thinking about the objectification women deal with day-in and day-out, you don’t leave depressed, or downtrodden. The show moves fluidly between the through story of shy Beth (Jessica DeBruin) and brave Edie (Sonia Jackson) dealing with cat calls while waiting for the bus and vignettes of how vulgar sexual harassment is. Sonia Jackson gives an outstanding performance, in an all around fabulous cast. All the women moved fluidly from character to character. This is a strong, entertaining and thought provoking play!
