I’m Not From Here is a marvelous story told with song and humor, employing a remarkably varied, yet coherent, range of media and magic. It is a tale that is at once personal and in the end, truly universal… a vision spanning from the microcosm to the macrocosm. Ms. Proska has given us a finely crafted and beautifully executed one woman show- with a little help from God! Los Angelenos should not miss the opportunity to see this impressive new work!!... full review

I'm not from here was unique and full of surprises! Jessie put on an exciting performance with different elements varying from singing and playing a Ukulele to being in a house, floating in space. It was a fun show to see and to be a part of. Oh, and her costume is definitely a must see!! ... full review

Jessie Proksa is an Artist with a capital A. I'm Not From Here takes you on a journey into her mind as Proksa puts her many talents on display. Her voice becomes hypnotic as you journey with her alter-ego Sylax from a strange house in Outer Space all the way to the foreign lands of Chicago, Kansas and Utah. The show is funny and sweet and includes some poignant critiques of our tech-obsessed culture. I invite you all to turn off your phone and to slow your life down for forty-five minutes, as you enjoy the laid back pace of a true Auteur.... full review

Jessie Proksa is definitely onto something here. Well observed, uniquely (well it is Fringe after all) presented, "I'm Not From Here" left me wondering about life in our modern western culture, what people deem to be important, and what might be being missed. I experienced a strange emotion welling up inside of me about half-way through her performance, triggered by an odd combination of disparate thoughts, that when artfully combined hit a human nerve precisely, as if executed by the hammer of a blacksmith.... full review

In "I'm Not From Here", Jessie Proksa portrays Sylax, a space alien or a homeless person who tries to make sense of this reality. Her performance is definitely out of this world! It engages at a deeply emotional level, raising questions about the choices we make in our life. Her comedy is weird and sweet and the songs she plays on the ukelele need to be heard. We left with a tear in our eyes and a smile in our hearts.... full review

This fearless traveler has been many places-now including outer space-and she's quite generous to share her insights. Jessie has a unique engagement with storytelling. Jessie is a visual artist and made her space suit and many props that purposefully litter the stage. She's a musician who composed songs and music for the cello and ukelele to support the story. She dances. Her encounters with civilization are funny and sometimes sad, but she carries on undaunted by the challenges along the way. She observes that like her father who taught her how to take a piece of iron from the fire and give it a measured blow to obtain the desired effect, she has learned how to apply pressure to the desired spot on a cello string to hit the note she's aft... full review

Go see this show! You will not be disappointed. It is in turns, funny, touching and unique. There's music and dancing and joy. Like Sylax, the central character from "I'm Not From Here", you should just take a chance and go...... full review

When I heard there was a ukulele and a spacesuit in the same one-woman show, I just had to see what I'm Not From Here was all about! A hypnotically poetic adventure from the perspective of a very relatable character from outer space, told in the vein of understated social satire reminiscent of beatnik counterculture humor. The music and wacky elements of audience participation combine to make this a fascinating multi-media journey with a message and a distinctive mood. Quite unique.... full review
