My overall impression
Taming of the Shrew has always been a guilty pleasure of mine, but not one that I liked to vocalize because of how easily it is perceived to be sexist. But because of FIFTY SHADES OF SHREW, I don’t feel bad about saying this is now my favorite Shakespearean play!
Adapting the show to a BDSM-style production is not only very entertaining, but amazingly appropriate. SPOILER ALERT: The ending where Katherina delivers her monologue about men’s superiority to her fellow female entourage takes on a sexy, seductive nature that left the audience, and myself, hot and bothered! A definite must-see!!
Now, please excuse me while I go and purchase some BDSM goodies!
