My overall impression
For fans of Fresh Baked, there are several favorites to be found among the cast, most notably Will McFadden (who does an incredible job with the delusional Flacco), Daniel Armas (playing a lovable made man with daddy issues) and Dan Sykes (as the edgy trigger-man for the thoughtful Little Tuna).
The play moves quickly with intermission coming barely more than half an hour into the show. But even though the show sports a longer second act, the cast is so entertaining and the dialogue is so quick that you’ll never feel it. Matt Calloway’s direction keeps the onstage action interesting – even as the actors spend a chunk of the second act rather immobile.
The ending is a little too silly and cutesy compared to how smart and complex the play is up to that point; and the resolution feels like something one might see in a 70’s sitcom. Still, Den of Thieves is brimming with laughs and a great way to spend an evening with friends. The strong cast and such a fun script makes for an exciting third entry from this young company.
