What I liked

Ive been a fan of Emily since I saw her sing at the Rockwell months ago. And this show did not disappoint. Her voice is beautiful and the songs showcase it very well, but more than that, she is charming and interesting and funny. I feel like she’s the musical theater version of Amy Pohler or those girls from Broad City. Her deliveries of lines are unique, tongue in cheek, and sarcastic.
But the show felt very personal too and dealt with themes (briefly) of loss, disappointment and heartbreak.

What I didn't like

If anything, I would have liked to see the darker sadder elements of her story explored in more detail. The piece showcases her talents and her humor but stops just short of showcasing her raw emotion. In future productions, I’d welcome a second act with heavier material.

My overall impression

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and will probably go again.
